- Nayyirah Waheed
I’m Katee (she/her), a licensed mental health counselor in Washington state. I center intersectional feminism, person-centered, and trauma-informed therapies to support clients with creating autonomy and empowerment. We will move together, at your pace, with curiosity and compassion to explore the good, the bad, and what can be better.
My approaches to therapy are eclectic and blend Existential, Systems, Polyvagal, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT), and Attachment-Based modalities.
My therapeutic style is collaborative and engaged in nature. Prioritizing connection through anti-oppressive approaches, I work to celebrate and affirm gender, body, race, sex, class, and more. I invite clients with laughter, reflection, and gentle feedback to explore beliefs, patterns, relationships, and behaviors that may be contributing to their pain. I support my clients with exploring new tools, routines, practices, and coping mechanisms to create regulation, ease, and connection with(in) themselves.
I received both my MA and BA in Psychology from Seattle University. I graduated with my master’s degree in 2021. I received my training as an intern at MEND Seattle, a therapy collective dedicated to anti-oppressive and liberatory approaches. My training continues to center anti-racist, politically informed, social justice approaches to support clients with navigating systems of oppression that impact not only their mental health but the entirety of their humanness.
To maintain my credentials and remain current in my field, I take continuing education courses that center growth and competency in the approaches I utilize with clients, and I regularly consult with colleagues.

As I work from home, my wonderful cat, Lyra, will often make an appearance in sessions. She's very dedicated to providing a warm, non-judgmental, & healing space.
